Collectively, we, have over 30 years of experience in Paediatric Occupational Therapy. Having known each other since university in Durban, South Africa, we’ve always dreamt of combining our shared passion of providing high level, impactful OT services to support children in need and their families.
Together, we have extensive experience working with babies and children with:
We have training in Paediatric Neuro Developmental Techniques, Professional wheelchair seating, Cortical Visual Impairment, Ayres Sensory Integration, DIR Floor time and SOS feeding therapy. We are passionate about the holistic and powerful impact that OT has on a child and over the years have been a part of many children’s journeys of developing a sense of self-belief and confidence in themselves to achieve their goals.
Donna lives in the Sunshine Coast with her husband and 3 children. She loves the adventure and outdoor lifestyle that the Sunshine Coast offers her energetic family.
Having had the privilege of working in various settings over three countries including South Africa, the United Kingdom and Australia, she is passionate about working in a multidisciplinary team. She believes in the benefit of building a strong, connected network around each child that includes the primary care giver as a key contributor. Donna is passionate about the role an OT brings to a team.
“I love my job; I love how it goes hand in hand with self-belief. I get to be apart of that moment when a child knows or learns they can do it; whether that’s by learning a new way of doing something or breaking a task down into manageable parts, learning cues about their body or giving them an assistive device, nothing beats the moment they realise…. I can.”
When not bare feet and in her scrubs at work, you will find Donna, running on the beach, camping in nature, attempting Pilates or trying to keep up with her own busy children.
Sally, her husband and two children moved to the Sunshine Coast to be a part of the outdoor lifestyle, friendly people and beautiful landscapes.
Growing up on a farm in South Africa, has shaped the way Sally views her role as an Occupational Therapist. She believes in the importance of children getting back to basics, slowing down and running bare feet in the mud! Sally’s dream is to one day have a nature-based therapy set up, where children can learn and develop skills by climbing trees, balancing on rocks and integrating their senses in the outdoors.
‘My therapy approach is relationship based, I strongly believe in relationships being the foundation and fuel for growth and change. I focus on the child and their family and aim to empower them to see their child’s individual differences, meet them where they are at and focus on the child’s strengths and interests, to guide development.’
‘I love to learn, be it from other professionals or from the children I treat and their families, I am humbled and feel privileged every day that I get to play a role in so many little lives and learn from so many children and their families.’
When Sally isn’t bare feet and in scrubs, you will find her trying to keep up with Donna, running on the beach! Or exploring, hiking, and camping with precious friends and family in this beautiful country.
Georgie has been an OT for over 9 years and has spent the last 5 in the Sunshine Coast with her husband, dog and new baby boy. Georgie is working with the Bare Feet team a few days a week as she balances life as a new mum and her passion for the work that we do.
Georgie has a keen sense of adventure having travelled around Australia and the world. She grew up in Perth WA, qualified as an OT in Sydney and has now chased the sun up to the sunshine coast where she has stopped and settled down. You will find her on the weekends camping, down at the beach or on one of the wonderful walks in the coast.
Georgie's therapy approach can be flexible to the family and child's wants and needs, having completed additional training in a variety of techniques including relationship-based approaches, sensory approaches, support for child and family mental health and more structured therapies.
Georgie is an energetic, enthusiastic, vibrant part of the team, who will always be the biggest advocate and cheerleader for her clients.
Zoe is an Occupational Therapist with experience working primarily in paediatrics, supporting children and families to build confidence, independence and participation in everyday life.
Zoe has called the Sunshine Coast home for the past seven years, aside from some recent time away pursuing travel opportunities and living and working on a tropical island. These experiences have helped shape her adaptable, open-minded, and down-to-earth approach to therapy.
Zoe values creating warm, genuine connections with the children and families she works alongside. Zoe’s approach is client-centred and family-focused, with a strong belief that every child is unique and that their individuality is something to be celebrated. Zoe enjoys helping children recognise their strengths, build confidence in their abilities, and work towards meaningful goals in a supportive, fun, play-based and engaging environment.
Zoe also values a multidisciplinary approach and enjoys collaborating with families, educators, and other support persons to provide holistic and individualised support. Zoe aims to make therapy fun, engaging, and empowering while creating a safe space where children feel understood, heard, supported, and capable.
When not bare feet and in scrubs at work, Zoe is likely bare foot somewhere else… usually in the sand/sea! Zoe can also be found swimming, exercising, travelling, hiking, exploring new places, or just enjoying life’s simple pleasures with friends and family. Zoe brings a warm, positive, and relaxed nature into her work and loves incorporating fun, play, movement, and connection into therapy wherever possible.
